  4. HLDRS (4 SCOTS) - 4th Battalion - The Highlanders
  5. ASH (5 SCOTS) - 5th Battalion - The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders
  6. 52nd Lowland (6 SCOTS) - 6th Battalion - 52nd Lowland - TA Reserve

Auld Scots Regiments:

RSDGThe Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys) (1971-present)

History: Formed in 1971 by the amalgamation of the Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons) and 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales’s Dragoon Guards).

Motto: Second to none.

 

 

 

 

 

RSGThe Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons) (1681-1971)

History: Raised in 1678 as the Royal Regiment of Scots Dragoons (2nd Royal North British Dragoons in 1751).

Motto: Second to none.

Amalgamated into the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards in 1971.

 

 

 

SGThe Scots Guards (1661-present)

History: Raised in 1642 as Argyle’s Regiment (re-raised as Scottish Footguards 1661), brought on to English establishment as Scotch Guards in 1686, (Scots Fusilier Guards in 1831, Scots Guards in 1877.

Motto: Nemo Me Impune Lacessit (No one provokes me with impunity).

 

 

 

 

RSThe Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment) (1633-2006)

  • Hepburn’s Regiment (1633-78)
  • 1st or Royal Regiment of Foot (1678-1881)
  • The Royal Scots (1881-2006)

History: Raised in 1633 by Sir John Hepburn by Royal Warrant granted by Charles I for service in France, and returned to England in 1661 (known as Hepburn’s, Douglas’s and Dumbarton’s Regiment until given the title The Royal Regiment of Foot in 1679.

Motto: Nemo me impune lacessit (No one provokes me with impunity).

  • The Royal Scots Fusiliers (21st Regiment)(1678-1959)

  • The 74th Highland Regiment (1787-1881)

History: Formed in 1959 by the amalgamation of the Royal Scots Fusiliers and the Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment).

History:

  • Raised in 1689 as the Earl of Leven’s Regiment
  • 25th Foot in 1751
  • 25th (Edinburgh) Regiment until 1881.

History: Raised in 1739 as the Highland Regiment (43rd) (42nd Foot in 1751) and in 1758 as the 2nd Battalion of the 42nd Regiment (73rd Highland Regiment in 1780). These two regiments became the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) in 1881.

  • The 75th Stirlingshire Regiment (1787-1881)
  • The 92nd Gordon Highlanders (1794-1881)

History: Raised in 1787 as the Highland Regiment (75th Foot in 1809) and in 1794 as the 100th Foot (92nd Foot in 1798). These two regiments became the 1st and 2nd Battalions of The Gordon Highlanders in 1881.

History: Raised in 1794 as the 98th Argyllshire Highlanders (91st Foot in 1809) and in 1799 as the 93rd Highlanders. These two regiments became the 1st and 2nd Battalions of Princess Louise’s (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) in 1881.
